How EuroEast Ventures started
After university, Dorin moved to London and spent two decades working in consulting roles that kept him moving: eighteen months in Tokyo, a year in Australia split between Melbourne and Sydney, stretches in Buenos Aires, Berlin, Cape Town, Durban, Bangkok, Malaysia, and what felt like every neighbourhood in New York and a dozen other corners of the United States.
He stayed in over four hundred short-let apartments in that time. Most were fine. A handful were extraordinary. The rest — and there were many — failed at the same small things, again and again. A kettle but no mugs. A "smart" lock that wasn't. Wi-Fi credentials handwritten on a scrap of paper. A host who lived in another country and answered messages eight hours late.
In late 2016 he decided to build something in the country he left behind. By spring 2017 he had registered EuroEast Ventures S.R.L., bought the first apartment on Calea Victoriei, and started a renovation that would take longer than he wanted to admit.
"I didn't want to be a host who answers from a different time zone. I wanted to be the person who hands you the keys, knows which café opens at seven, and can be at the apartment in twenty minutes if the boiler does something stupid."
Three apartments, two years of full renovation, one architect, two contractors (the first didn't work out), and an embarrassing number of sample tiles later, EuroEast Ventures opened its first booking in 2019. We've been running quietly ever since.
Who we're for
We host professionals — most often couples, and couples travelling with children — who want a clean, modern, properly working apartment in the centre of Bucharest. Guests who care that the shower has pressure, that the desk is at the right height for a laptop, that the bed linen is actually ironed, and that the check-in works the first time at eleven at night after a delayed flight.
We're not the cheapest option in Bucharest. We're the one you book when you've been burned before.
Why we're not a remote operator
A lot of the listings you'll see in Bucharest are managed from elsewhere — by agencies running hundreds of units, or by owners who haven't been in the country in years. That model can work. It's just not what we do.
The remote operator
- One of several hundred units; you're a row in a spreadsheet.
- Cleaning subcontracted to whoever has a key that day.
- Messages routed through a call centre or chatbot.
- If something breaks, a maintenance ticket joins a queue.
- Local recommendations copy-pasted from a tourism blog.
EuroEast Ventures
- Three apartments. The owner knows each one's quirks.
- The same two cleaners since 2019. We inspect after every turnover.
- You message a real person who lives a fifteen-minute walk away.
- If something breaks, we're usually there before your next coffee.
- Recommendations from someone who actually eats at those places.
What's actually different inside the apartment
Most of what we did during the two-year renovation was invisible — re-plumbing, sound insulation, electrical work that brought every flat up to current spec. But a few things are deliberate, and worth pointing out:
International power, no adapters
Each room has integrated EU, UK Type-G, and US Type-A/B sockets alongside USB-A and USB-C. Pull your laptop, your kettle-flex shaver, and your Japanese hairdryer out of the bag and just plug them in.
Alexa, in your language
An Amazon Echo in every apartment, configured for English by default for music and ambient control, and switchable to any language Alexa supports for guests who prefer to ask questions in their own.
Keyless entry, properly done
A unique code is generated for each booking and expires the moment you check out. No key handovers, no lockboxes, no "I'll meet you at the building at four". Arrive at three in the morning if you need to.
A check-in that actually works
Our website hosts a clear, step-by-step check-in and check-out guide for each apartment — written instructions plus short video walk-throughs covering door, lift, thermostat, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Sent automatically the day before arrival.
360° tours before you book
Every room of every apartment is captured as a 360° interactive tour on the listing page. What you see is exactly what you'll walk into — including the view from the kitchen window.
Built for working couples and families
Real desks with real chairs, blackout curtains in the bedrooms, child-proofing kits available on request, fast symmetric fibre, and a quiet building chosen for exactly that reason.
The legal bit
We're a properly registered Romanian company with a tax identification number and a tourism authorisation. The full details are below — we'd rather you have them than wonder.
Where to find us
All three apartments sit on the southern stretch of Calea Victoriei — a five-minute walk to the Old Town, ten minutes to Cișmigiu Gardens, and a flat ten-minute taxi from Gara de Nord.
